The last of the men’s division contains some ADCC legends and arguably the greatest grappler of his generation. In previous years the +99kgs division has thrown up plenty of surprises and this year could be no different.

Winner; Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida is probably the best grappler in the world not named Roger Gracie and will be the favourite to pick up the win this year. Buchecha has a crushing top game and his guard passing is on par with some of the lighter weight competitors in terms of dynamism. If Buchecha can secure the take down on his fights, then expect him to win every match.

Contenders; Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu, Orlando Sanchez and Vinny Magalhaes will all be in contention for the title and between have plenty of experience in this tournament, however none of these are entering the tournament in the best of form and could find themselves going out in the earlier rounds of the competition.

One to watch; Jared Dopp has been keeping himself busy on the pro-grappling circuit recently and has shown in recent matches that he has the skills to compete with the very best in the weight class and having previously won a silver belt in the competition, he will be looking to improve on that in this outing.
