Ahead of Aaron Chalmers’ MMA debut tonight, there was much confusion regarding the weigh ins. The fight was announced as a lightweight bout, but both men came in way over the limit.
The Geordie Shore star weighed in at 170lb, whilst his opponent, Greg Jenkins tipped the scale at 163.
Moments ago, backstage at BAMMA 29, The Sprawl’s John King spoke with Greg Jenkins, and the fighter explained the whole situation.
“So, two days ago, I got a phone call, and I was told Aaron couldn’t make the 155lb weight,” he admitted. “I was just told he wouldn’t make the weight, so I said fuck it, make the fight welterweight, and that’s what they did.”
Chalmers and Jenkins fight later tonight, at approximately 8:30pm, with both men making they’re professional MMA debuts.
